Decline in International Student admissions in Scottish Universities

Scottish Universities have seen a noticeable decline in overseas student applications, due to harsher visa regulations making it increasingly difficult to secure a job after completing their studies.
With Indian student applications falling by a shocking 12%, Nigerian students falling by 9% and Chinese students by 2% - this comes as a … to Scotland as they rely on international student admissions to subsidise their student fees.

Alastair Sim, Director of Universities Scotland stated, ‘Scottish Universities need action from Government to improve its post – study work offer. We are losing out in key markets as our competitors take steps to attract more international student talent’.

BFI are hosting an International Student Recruitment Conference on 25th February 2015 in London. This event promises to provide delegates with a deeper understanding of the current global market competition, practical & strategic solutions to maximise overseas student recruitment, exploit other international opportunities, innovative regional guidance from other industry practitioners and vital legal immigration updates.
