We are a knackered nation – getting enough decent sleep is a challenge we’re all facing at the moment, and chronic sleep deprivation is causing employers real issues.
The impact:
- Workplace accidents are 70% more likely to happen when tired vs well-rested
- Impaired cognitive function leads to poor decision-making, memory loss, unregulated emotions and higher risk-taking – not ideal in the workplace
- Being exhausted means we miss targets and productivity plummets
- Industry-specific lack of sleep, such as medics, transport professionals, causes danger and a risk to the public
Join us for a half-hour dive into what you should be doing as an employer to raise awareness of the dangers of sleep deprivation and fatigue in the workplace.
Dr Zoe Schaedel, a national sleep expert, will talk about sleep hygiene, what cultural changes we need to make at work to tackle the problem and how to give employees access to sound sleep education.
We are accepting questions before and during the broadcast. Please send your questions to elizabeth.smith@bfi.co.uk.
