IR35 Post-Election Predictions and Probabilities

HR Risk Forums: IR35 post-election predictions and probabilities

Time: 11:00 - 11:30 | FREE

Labour has been making a range of pre-election promises about reforming workers’ rights in general and the self-employed in particular, committing to reforming statutory sick pay, contracts, and health and safety issues. In addition, there may well be changes to the scope of IR35, enforcement, compliance, exemptions, safeguards, and other support for contractors, freelancers, and temporary workers.

Not staying abreast of the changes could be costly for employers as recent high-profile cases show. Compliance requirements, tax and NI liabilities, legal and brand risks, and the way companies recruit and retain talent, and of course how businesses operate are all affected. This free webinar highlights the risks and possible ways to mitigate them.

Hear from our Labour expert, who’ll be attempting the unenviable task of unpicking the new employment status, described as “pulling a loose thread on a tapestry.” We’ll also be joined by IR35 expert and commentator Dave Chaplin, who will look at recent cases, including the Adrian Chiles ruling. He will also give invaluable advice on what happens when HMRC knocks at the door.

We are accepting questions before and during the broadcast. Please send your questions to elizabeth.smith@bfi.co.uk.
